Best NFC West NFL Fans

If you want to know who the best fans are in the NFC West you have to look no further than the longsuffering fans in Seattle, Washington.  Fans of the Seahawks are known as the loudest (and some say best) fans in the NFL.  In order to show their appreciation for their fans the Seattle Seahawks have retired the number 12 from their jerseys.  As their fan number the Seahawks begin each game by having someone raise the 12th man flag, this includes their fans as an important part of their team.

Inside the Qwest field in Seattle the noise level can reach as high as 137 decibels which is essentially the equivalent of a jet engine.  In this manner, the fans have helped the Seahawks win games because the noise level has caused problems for the opposing teams, including numerous false starts and penalties.

Not only are the fans of the Seahawks great fans of the football players.  They also support the Sea Gals cheerleaders.  The Seahawks flagship station on the radio is KIRO 97.3 FM.  The announcers who give all the news about their team to the wonderful fans are former Seahawks Stephen Graible and Warren Moon.

The Seattle Seahawks are members of the Western division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).   This team has been a part of the NFL since 1976 when they joined as an expansion team along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks are the only NFL team to switch conferences twice. When they first joined, they were part of the NFC West for one year; then the AFC West, until 2002 when they switched back to the NFC West for good. Their fans have been loud and rambunctious since the beginning.

While all of the teams in the NFL have great fans, the Seattle Seahawks, "Number 12" fans are definitely at the top.  The Seahawks fans have cheered the team through thick and thin. The Seahawks had many tough years; but also good years, especially recently. Overall, the Seahawks have two AFC West championships, one NFC championship (lost Super Bowl XL in 2006 to the Steelers) and four NFC West championships as well as 10 NFL playoff appearances.  With a history like that you can be sure that the Seattle Seahawks appreciate and know how much their fan support means.  No other team has retired a number specifically for their fans and the fans know this and appreciate the team recognition.  They show up ready to be loud and supportive for their team for each and every game, whether it be home or away.

So, if you are going to be attending a game at Qwest Field in Seattle be sure to take along your earplugs as well as your air horns and foam fingers and join in with the 12th man fans to be a part of the fun.

In 2009, Jim Mora replaced Mike Holmgren as the Seahawks head coach.  But, the Seahawks still have quarterback Mike Matt Hasselbeck, offensive lineman Andre Ramsey and running back Devin Moore on the field playing their hearts out for the 12 man fans who show up to support them game after game and season after season.  Maybe the Seahawks will make and take the Super Bowl this season!  Hopefully against the Pittsburgh Steelers who defeated them in the 2006 Super Bowl.  The fans would be deafening if that were to happen!
