Best All Time Tennis Player
Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player ever. His record in the Grand Slam tournaments speaks for itself. With fifteen Men’s Singles Grand Slam titles (latest was Wimbledon, 2009) -- Roger has passed up Pete Sampras as the all-time leader. Additionally, he has appeared in more consecutive Wimbledon finals, more consecutive French Open finals, more consecutive U.S. Open finals, and more consecutive Grand Slam semifinals overall, than any other player in the history of the game.

Switzerland's Federer was also the World No. 1 in tennis for more than four years. RF is perhaps most associated with the green lawns of Wimbledon, where he won a record-tying five consecutive titles (tied with Bjorn Borg). Unlike many other grass court players, however, he has displayed a remarkable ability to adapt to different surfaces. He has won on the hard courts of the Australian and U.S. Opens, and on the clay of the French Open. This remarkable consistency sets him apart from other great tennis players. Pete Sampras, is perhaps the only other contender for the title of greatest tennis player ever, never performed well at the French Open.

No mention of Federer would be complete without a reference to the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. The Federer-Nadal rivalry is one of the greatest rivalries in the history of tennis and perhaps one of the greatest in the history of all sports. In 2008, Nadal appeared to have the upper hand. Having already denied Federer the French Open four years in a row, he won the Wimbledon title in 2008 in one of the classic matches of tennis history. Federer, however, bounced back the next year to win at Nadal’s traditional stronghold, the French Open, completing his career Grand Slam. Only five other men have ever achieved this extraordinary accomplishment.
